I am an astronomer, working for JIVE. It stands for Joint Institute for VLBI in Europe. At the moment I am doing radio astronomy - VLBI is a radio astronomical technique. The European VLBI Network (EVN) consists of several telescopes in Europe, China, and South Africa. At JIVE I was a member of the EVN Support Group, and then the Science Operations and Support Group between 2002-2006. My main job was to organise and schedule Fringe Test and Network Monitoring Experiments, and report back to the stations one their performance. As from March 2006 I am a member of the Data Processor Research and Development group. I am an e-VLBI support scientist. Some astronomy links related to my work. Astronomy Picture of the Day. Here I am with friends in Holland.

JIVE is hosted by a Dutch institute called Astron. It is located in Dwingeloo, Drenthe, the Netherlands. I live in a close-by town called Hoogeveen. This is how the evening sky looks like in the centre of Hoogeveen with Venus and Mercury. Venus itself produced another show when it passed in front of the Sun in 2004. See my images of this Venus transit, made in China.

My home institute in Hungary is FÖMI, more closely the Satellite Geodetic Observatory in Penc. My old homepage should be still available there.

I got married at the end of 2002. Here are some pictures from the wedding and the "bridge" party afterwards. We regularly play bridge with friends. Unfortunately, there is no one here in Holland to play Hungarian Tarokk with me.
