JIVE scientific research
As well as their day to day support of the EVN and the operation and development of the EVN MkIV Data Processor, JIVE staff are also involved in a wide range of scientific research. Although much of this activity makes use of the EVN, JIVE astronomers also make frequent use of other radio instruments (e.g. VLBA, MERLIN, VLA, WSRT, ATCA, AT-LBA), as well as optical facilities.
Current topics of interest include:
- Cosmic masers
- Gravitational lensing
- Interstellar scintillation
- Microquasars
- Proper motions in the Local Group
- Deep VLBI wide-field imaging
- Ionospheric studies
- Pulsar astrometry
