NEXPReS started as of 2010 July 01 based on the Grant Agreement contract countersigned by the EC (received on 2010 Aug 02). The project expected the backdating. JIVE, the Project Coordinator, has moved forward with start of project activities.

Due to the summer holidays, most project partners are relatively quiet. Because of this, this first monthly report is quite short.

The major activities for this month have been the conclusion of the contract negotations (through to receipt of countersigned contract) and sharing information about the project's status.

After the contract was delivered to the Commission, WP1 (mostly Yvonne Kool, the project assistant) set up the contact lists (physical), email lists (majordomo) and initial communications to make sure that all information was correct. The Management Team is established and already has exchanged a number of emails. The deliverables list is online and beginning to show signs of activity.

The First NEXPReS Board Meeting will be held 20 September in Manchester. The meeting is hosted by our partners at Jodrell Bank. The most current information (including draft agenda and travel/lodging suggestions) is available via the wiki. The Board meeting is scheduled to dovetail with the EVN Symposium begins on 21 September.

WP2 EVN-NREN and WP3 eVSAG have been understandably quiet as their main function is to coordinate communication between activities. With the summer slowdown and the fact that the project has just started, there is little for them to report. However, both will attend the Board Meeting.

Via WP4 Outreach, the project website (http://www.nexpres.eu/) and wiki (http://www.jive.nl/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=nexpres:project) have been set up. The wiki (in use since the proposal period) is already populated with a great deal of information. The project website is being built and will be published once ready.

WP5 Correlation and WP7 Computing in Shared Infrastructure have been in contact with their participants to organize initial meetings. Opportunistic meetings will be scheduled along side the Board Meeting/EVN Symposium. Both will hold initial telecons and follow up with in person meetings.

WP6 BOD and WP8 Storage have been in contact with their partners and first telecons are being scheduled.
